About
Empty Chairs is a simple community idea: book a small table in a pub, leave a few chairs empty, and make it easy for anyone to join for a chat.
What is Empty Chairs?
It’s not a club, a therapy session, or a networking event. It’s just a friendly table where you can sit down, order a drink if you want, and talk to someone. Come for five minutes, stay for an hour, or head off whenever you’re ready.
Why it exists
In late 2025, Dean lost his best mate Rob. Grief can be isolating - and it can also make you notice how many people are quietly carrying their own things alone.
Empty Chairs exists to create low-pressure spaces where real human connection can happen. No big speeches. No awkward icebreakers. Just a seat at the table.
Where it came from
Empty Chairs was started by Chicken Rush, where we create social experiences that bring people together and foster community.
It’s the same belief, just simpler: connection doesn’t need a perfect plan - it just needs a place to start.

Boundaries & safety
Empty Chairs is designed to be low-pressure. You’re always allowed to step away, take a break, or leave. If something doesn’t feel right, trust that feeling.
We’re not trained professionals and this isn’t crisis support. If you need urgent help, please contact Samaritans on 116 123 (UK), or call emergency services.
